I've been eating mom's slaw for over half a century. It's the best creamy, sweet coleslaw on earth.

Ingredients
  • 4 Cups shredded cabbage and carrots from ready-to-eat package, poured loosely into a measuring cup and settled down ever so lightly with the finger tips.
  • 1 large apple grated, should make 1 Cup (I prefer brae-burn for its crispness)
  • 1 tsp grated fresh onion (More is not better.)
  • 3/4 Cup Miracle Whip (Half the fat of mayo.)
  • 1/4 Cup milk
  • 1 level tsp sugar
  • dash of salt

Directions
  1. Mix the first three ingredients (the rabbit food) in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Put Miracle Whip into a measuring cup, add the milk on top and stir together. I usually add an ounce or so of milk to make the consistency just right. It should be about the consistency of chain-saw chain oil.
  3. To the large bowl of rabbit food, add the miracle whip/milk slurry, sugar and just two shakes of salt. Mix thoroughly.

It must be a MN thing - we all seem to like the sweet slaw over the vinegar/sugar version. I've never put an apple in mine, but what a brilliant idea - your mom is one smart cookie! I've printed this off for our next "pulled pork sandwich smothered in sweet slaw" night - Krum
PS - I may need to work on that "chain saw oil" consistency...

Yah da sweet kind is good. Ya could tro a couple crushed roasted peanuts on top. Mebbe not. -Lori
