Cheesy Ham Strata Recipe
CHEESY HAM STRATA This is a recipe I obtained from an Estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Tinsley Estate in Venus, Texas in 1987.

Ingredients
  • 8 slices white sandwich bread
  • 4 slices ham
  • 4 slices sharp cheddar cheese
  • 4 ounce can chopped mushrooms
  • 5 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup crushed corn flakes
  • 1/4 cup melted butter

Directions
  1. Remove crust from all bread then cut four slices into cubes.
  2. Place cubed bread on bottom of a buttered square glass baking pan.
  3. Place ham, cheese and mushrooms on top of cubed bread.
  4. Top with remaining whole slices of bread.
  5. Beat together eggs, milk, mustard, salt and pepper.
  6. Pour mixture over whole bread then cover tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  7. When ready to bake place crushed corn flakes on top of bread and pour butter evenly over top
  8. Bake at 325 for 1 hour.
