Our favorite Chinese restaurant recently closed, so I came up with this recipe so we could have it at home. So easy and good!

Ingredients
  • 3 Boneless, skinless chicken breasts rinsed and cut into bite size pieces
  • 3 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 5 tbsp lite/low sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 3 garlic cloves finely minced
  • 1 large sweet onion thinly sliced
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1 bunch (2-3 heads) of broccoli chopped/broken into bite size pieces
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water

Directions
  1. Mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, and ginger.
  2. Pour mixture over chicken and marinade for 30 minutes.
  3. While chicken is marinading prep veggies.
  4. Heat the oil over medium heat.
  5. Saute onions and garlic until soft.
  6. Increase heat to high heat and add chicken with the marinade (its gonna get real hot so don't worry about germs, etc.)
  7. Cook for 5 minutes.
  8. Add cornstarch mixture and cook for another 5 minutes.
  9. Add the broccoli and water and cover the pan.
  10. Cook 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until broccoli is tender.
  11. Serve over rice or lo mein noodles

Sounds simple enough, and a lot like what we get at our fave Chinese restaurant, too - thanks for re-creating it!

Sounds really great a very nice job now you can make it when ever you want but sometimes its just great to go out right!!!!

I made this last night and it was quite good. I've never used oyster sauce before when I have made Asian dishes. I liked the flavor it added, but it did make it a bit saltier than I expected, even using the low-sodium soy sauce. I used a little over 1 tsp. of fresh minced ginger in place of the ground ginger, otherwise pretty much kept to the ingredient list. I did prepare it a bit differently than stated, but that was because we like our veggies in a stir fry to still have a bit of crunch to them! I think next time I will double the cornstarch, since I would have liked the sauce to be a bit thicker. Thanks for the recipe. We will be making it again.
