Upside Down Apple Gingerbread

- 1/4 cup butter, melted shopping list
- 1/3 cup packed brown sugar shopping list
- 2 large apples, peeled and sliced shopping list
- Gingerbread: shopping list
- 1/2 cup butter melted shopping list
- 1/2 cup sugar shopping list
- 1/3 cup packed brown sugar shopping list
- 1/2 cup molasses shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- 2 cups all purpose flour shopping list
- 1 tsp baking soda shopping list
- 1/2 tsp salt shopping list
- 1 tsp cinnamon shopping list
- 1 tsp ginger shopping list
- 1/2 tsp cloves shopping list
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg shopping list
- 3/4 cup hot tea shopping list
How to make it
- Pour butter into a 9 inch square baking pan; sprinkle with brown sugar. Arrange apples cut side up in a single layer over sugar; set aside.
- For gingerbread, in a large bowl, beat butter, sugars, molasses, and egg until blended. Combine flour, baking soda, salt, and spices; add to sugar mixture alternately with hot tea, beating well after each.
- Pour over apples. Bake at 350 for 45 to 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before inverting onto a serving plate. Serve warm.
