How to make it

  • Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, and continue beating.
  • Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk. Blend well.
  • Stir in soda which has been dissolved in vinegar.
  • Add vanilla.
  • Pour into 2 greased and floured 9 inch layer cake pans.
  • Bake in 350 degree oven until done (my mom's recipe..I think 30 minutes)
  • Cook and frost with icing.
  • FROSTING:
  • Melt butter in heavy sauce pan.
  • Add sugar and stir.
  • To blend well add milk and cook to soft ball stage.
  • Remove from heat and let stand about 5 minutes.
  • Add baking powder and beat until smooth and creamy. (The more you beat the creamier the frosting).
  • Frost cake.

    Now you wont believe it but caramel is my favorite thing so anything with caramel has to be great thank you
