Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
  2. In medium bowl stir together the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and cream of tartar.
  3. Cut in butter using a pastry cutter or fork until it is the size of peas.
  4. Make a well in the center of the mixture and measure the milk, cheese and thyme into the bowl.
  5. Gently mix until soft dough forms.
  6. Roll or pat out onto a floured surface to a 3/4" thickness.
  7. Cut in circles and place on a baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 10 minutes OR until biscuit bottoms are golden.
