Indian Halwa Dessert

- 1/2 cup butter shopping list
- 3/4 cup sifted flour, shopping list
- 3/4 cup chopped mixed nuts ( I used only almonds ) shopping list
- 1/2 cup finely shredded coconut - process in food processor to get the fine kind that is sold at Indian grocers shopping list
- dash salt shopping list
- 1/2 cup sugar shopping list
- 2 cups milk shopping list
- 1/2 tsp almond extract shopping list
- optional whipped cream, fresh fruit like strawberries or mangoes shopping list
How to make it
- Melt butter and then add flour, nuts, coconut, salt and cardomom.
- Blend in the sugar.
- Mix well.
- Cool for a few minutes.
- Then combine milk and almond extract stirring constantly over medium heat.
- Stir until mixture is thick and takes on a glossy apperance about 10 minutes or so
- This dessert can be served hot or cold.
- When cold, it can be unmolded from the pan and cut into squares.
- Serve with whipped cream and fresh fruit like strawberries or mangoes , is optional
