How to make it

  • Method: Syrup:
  • Cook sugar, butter and corn syrup until thick.
  • Pour it into bottom of a 9x13 baking dish.
  • And then:
  • Peel, core and slice thinly the apples.
  • Bake them on cookie sheet at 400 for about 15 minutes.
  • Spread apples evenly over the syrup.
  • Slice bread 1 1/2" thick and put into separate baking dish.
  • Mix the remaining ingredients and pour over the bread.
  • Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  • Put bread onto syrup and apples.
  • Bake uncovered 40 minutes at 350 degrees.
  • Serve topped with heated spicy applesauce, plain yogurt and lemon zest.
