- FOR BASE: shopping list
- 1/2 cup solid white shortening shopping list
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- 1 cup sifted all-purpose flour shopping list
- 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1/2 cup milk shopping list
- FOR TOPPING: shopping list
- 2 cups fresh or frozen thawed blueberries shopping list
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar shopping list
- 1/2 cup sifted all-purpose flour shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon shopping list
- 1/4 cup butter or margarine shopping list
How to make it
- Prepare 11 x 7-inch baking pan by greasing or spraying with nonstick cooking spray.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In large mixing bowl, cream shortening and 3/4 cup sugar.
- Add egg and beat until light and fluffy.
- Sift together 2 cups flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk.
- Spread in prepared pan evenly.
- Top with blueberries.
- In medium bowl, combine 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup flour, and cinnamon.
- Cut in butter until crumbly with pastry blender or with fork.
- Sprinkle mixture evenly over blueberries.
- Bake in preheated oven for approximately 45 minutes or until lightly browned.
- Cut into squares and serve warm topped with vanilla ice cream, if desired.
