Kapoustnik Belorussky Byelorussian Sauerkraut Soup

- 1 liter mushroom broth shopping list
- 400 grams sauerkraut shopping list
- 1 onion shopping list
- 1 carrot shopping list
- 300 grams boiled mushrooms shopping list
- 1 tsp flour shopping list
- 1 tsp sugar shopping list
- 1 tbsp plum jam shopping list
- 8 potatoes shopping list
- 1 tbsp fat shopping list
- salt to taste shopping list
How to make it
- Boil mushroom broth. When broth is ready, take mushrooms away.
- Stew sauerkraut.
- Chop onion and carrot finely and fry on a low heat until golden brown. Put in the pan.
- Cut potatoes in cubes and put in the broth with sauerkraut. Boil for 15-20 minutes.
- Fry flour on the dry pan for a couple minutes until light brown.
- Melt flour in 1/2 cup broth without lumps.
- Add chopped boiled mushrooms, plum jam, flour, sugar, salt to taste and let soup boil for 10
- minutes.
- Pour Kapoustnik in a pot and put in the oven to brew up.

I remember my mom making something similar when I was growing up, except I am pretty sure there was no plum jam in hers. I must try this! This is bringing back some warm memories!
