Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup shredded or grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil or 3 tsp. dried
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2/3 cup buttermilk
  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • 1 tablespoon egg substitute or 1 egg

Directions
  1. Combine the flour, cheese, baking powder, baking soda,
  2. basil and pepper in a medium bowl.
  3. Add the buttermilk and oil.
  4. Mix until dry ingredients are JUST moistened.
  5. Divide the dough into 2 balls.
  6. Knead gently 3-4 times on floured surface.
  7. Pat the dough into 2 circles 7-8 inches in diameter.
  8. With a sharp knife score each into 6 wedges but do not cut all the
  9. way through.
  10. Bake in preheated 400 F. oven, 10-12 minutes
  11. until golden brown.
