How to make it

  • Combine the flour, cheese, baking powder, baking soda,
  • basil and pepper in a medium bowl.
  • Add the buttermilk and oil.
  • Mix until dry ingredients are JUST moistened.
  • Divide the dough into 2 balls.
  • Knead gently 3-4 times on floured surface.
  • Pat the dough into 2 circles 7-8 inches in diameter.
  • With a sharp knife score each into 6 wedges but do not cut all the
  • way through.
  • Bake in preheated 400 F. oven, 10-12 minutes
  • until golden brown.
