How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 200C/400F / gas 6
  • line the bottom of a 9" (23cm) square tin with a sheet of grease proof paper
  • OR use an 8" tin for a thicker chewier flapjack
  • stir the butter, sugar and syrup on a low heat until the butter and sugar have dissolved
  • remove from the heat and stir in the oats
  • press the mixture into the tin
  • bake for 20-25 min until golden brown
  • allow to cool for 5 min then mark into bars with the back of a knife
  • allow to cool in the tin completely before cutting up and removing
  • this prevents them from breaking up

    This sounds really good. When I was a kid flapjacks and pancakes were the same thing. This is VERY different.
