Drop Scones or Scotch Pancakes

- 225g - 8oz plain flour shopping list
- 4 tsp baking powder shopping list
- 1 large egg shopping list
- 2 tsp golden syrup shopping list
- 200ml - 7foz milk shopping list
- oil shopping list
How to make it
- place the griddle pan over a medium heat
- fold a clean tea towel in half and lay over a baking tray
- sift the flour and baking powder into a bowl and make a well in the centre
- add the egg, golden syrup and milk
- whisk well till the batter is smooth and the consistency of thick cream
- add a little more milk if necessary
- TEST the pan by sprinkling a little flour into the bottom it should slowly brown if it burns turn down the heat
- once the temp is right rub a kitchen towel dipped in oil around the pan
- lift out 1 tblsp of batter and gently pour into the pan
- repeat leaving room for spread
- bubbles will appear on the surface of the scones
- when they burst turn over and cook the other side
- place cooked scones inside the tea towel to keep them soft
- oil the pan after each batch
- serve with a knob of butter and drizzle syrup or honey over the top
