Chocolate Matza Torte Recipe
An easy recipe, to use those flat bread crackers to make a easy put together sweet for Passover

Ingredients
  • 5 eggs
  • 8 0z bittersweet chocolate ( chips or pieces)
  • 8 0z sweet ( unsalted ) butter or margarine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 12 whole, plain matzo or more if needed
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts ( almonds, walnuts etc ) as desired

Directions
  1. In top of double boiler over simmering water beat eggs well.
  2. Add chocolate and sugar and margarine and heat over low, stirring until mixture is smooth.
  3. Lemove from heat
  4. Line a sided baking sheet with wax paper.
  5. lay on 2 matzohs side by side.
  6. Spread some chocolate mixture over each matzo and the sides using a pastry brush, add another matzoh and continue to use up the matzoh and chocolate.
  7. Spread the chocolate a bit thicker on the last layer.
  8. Sprinkle the chopped nuts over the top of the last chocolate layer
  9. Chill overnight before serving
  10. Use a sharp serated knife to cut into slices
  11. makes two tortes, about 12 slices each

This is a great idea! I always get a free box of matzo crackers from my grocery store and I never know what to do with it...now I can try this!
