How to make it

  • In top of double boiler over simmering water beat eggs well.
  • Add chocolate and sugar and margarine and heat over low, stirring until mixture is smooth.
  • Lemove from heat
  • Line a sided baking sheet with wax paper.
  • lay on 2 matzohs side by side.
  • Spread some chocolate mixture over each matzo and the sides using a pastry brush, add another matzoh and continue to use up the matzoh and chocolate.
  • Spread the chocolate a bit thicker on the last layer.
  • Sprinkle the chopped nuts over the top of the last chocolate layer
  • Chill overnight before serving
  • Use a sharp serated knife to cut into slices
  • makes two tortes, about 12 slices each

    This is a great idea! I always get a free box of matzo crackers from my grocery store and I never know what to do with it...now I can try this!
