Chocolate Matza Torte

- 5 eggs shopping list
- 8 0z bittersweet chocolate ( chips or pieces) shopping list
- 8 0z sweet ( unsalted ) butter or margarine shopping list
- 1 cup sugar shopping list
- 12 whole, plain matzo or more if needed shopping list
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts ( almonds, walnuts etc ) as desired shopping list
How to make it
- In top of double boiler over simmering water beat eggs well.
- Add chocolate and sugar and margarine and heat over low, stirring until mixture is smooth.
- Lemove from heat
- Line a sided baking sheet with wax paper.
- lay on 2 matzohs side by side.
- Spread some chocolate mixture over each matzo and the sides using a pastry brush, add another matzoh and continue to use up the matzoh and chocolate.
- Spread the chocolate a bit thicker on the last layer.
- Sprinkle the chopped nuts over the top of the last chocolate layer
- Chill overnight before serving
- Use a sharp serated knife to cut into slices
- makes two tortes, about 12 slices each
