How to make it

  • Preheat oven 350 degrees.
  • Butter twp 9X5X3 inch loaf pans
  • Roll the pastry into a large square 1/4 inch thick. Brush with melted butter.
  • In a bowl, cream the softened butter, orange rind, honey, and nuts.
  • Spread over the dough and sprinkle with raisins.
  • Roll up jelly roll fashion.
  • Cut with the strips in half horizontally and braid each 3 strips into a loaf.
  • Place the loaves in the loaf pans.
  • In a small bowl combine egg yolk and cream and brush over the loaves. Sprinkle with the almonds.
  • Bake about 45 minutes or until golden.
  • Remove from pans and cool on a rack. Can be frozen.
