This recipe also uses the rich sour cream dough. It just seemed to be delicious and a great find.

Ingredients
  • 1 recipe of rich sour cream dough
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • grated rind of 1 large orange
  • 2/3 cup honey
  • 2/3 cup walnuts or pecans, chopped
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup blanched sliced almonds

Directions
  1. Preheat oven 350 degrees.
  2. Butter twp 9X5X3 inch loaf pans
  3. Roll the pastry into a large square 1/4 inch thick. Brush with melted butter.
  4. In a bowl, cream the softened butter, orange rind, honey, and nuts.
  5. Spread over the dough and sprinkle with raisins.
  6. Roll up jelly roll fashion.
  7. Cut with the strips in half horizontally and braid each 3 strips into a loaf.
  8. Place the loaves in the loaf pans.
  9. In a small bowl combine egg yolk and cream and brush over the loaves. Sprinkle with the almonds.
  10. Bake about 45 minutes or until golden.
  11. Remove from pans and cool on a rack. Can be frozen.
