Spiced Peaches Recipe
SPICED PEACHES This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Pryor Estate in Grapevine, Texas in 1996.

Ingredients
  • 1 large can peach halves
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup peach juice
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 10 whole cloves
  • 1 stick cinnamon

Directions
  1. Combine sugar, juice, vinegar and spices then bring to a boil and simmer 10 minutes.
  2. Add fruit and heat thoroughly then remove to a flat dish.
  3. Be sure fruit is covered with syrup and allow to stand overnight in refrigerator.

My mother used to stew fruit from our trees every summer. This recipe is a way to zip up your basic canned peaches into much more tasty and interesting dessert. Imagine this with some ice cream or whipped cream. I rest my case!
