Country Dumplings

- 2 boneless skinless chicken breast shopping list
- Dumpling: shopping list
- 2 cups flour shopping list
- 2 teaspoon baking powder shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1 cup milk shopping list
- 4 tablspoons vegetable oil shopping list
- 8 cups water( used to cook the chicken n dumplings in, don't add to other dumpling ingredients) shopping list
- 3 tablspoons chicken soup base (or can use chicken bouilon cubes) shopping list
- Dumpling Sauce: shopping list
- 6 tablespoons butter shopping list
- 8 tablespoons flour shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 2 cups milk shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar shopping list
- 1- 11/2 cups dumpling cooking liquid shopping list
How to make it
- Add 8 cups water to large pan n add chicken base and chicken, Cook till chicken is done, Remove chicken n set aside.
- Dumplings:
- Mix all ingredients, blend well .
- Turn out onto floured surface,knead 4 or 5 times.
- Diviide dough in 2 parts.
- Roll out 1st part to 1/8" thickness.
- Cut into 1" x 1/2" strips.
- Bring the chicken water to a boil and add dumplings,
- Cook till almost done (aprox 10 minutes) strain n set aside.
- As 1st batch of dumplings cooking roll out out 2nd part n cut as before. Cook like 1st batch.
- Dump dumpling water into a bowl to use in sauce.
- Dumpling Sauce:
- Place butter in the large pan you cooked dumplings in, melt,add salt and flour.
- Mix sugar with milk,add to flour mixture,stirring constantly with a whisk till smooth and thick.
- Lower heat to low
- Shredd or cube chicken and add to sauce.
- Add the dumplings to sauce.
- Add about 1 cup of dumpling cooking liquid to sauce.
- Stir gently.
- Simmer dumplings on low heat till blended and dumplings are done.
- Can add more dumpling liquid as needed.
