How to make it
- In a cast iron skillet, heat shortening and add your ham; brown on both sides. Remove and place in a glass bowl. Once all ham is cooked pour your grease on top of ham. Heat pan getting all the bits on the bottom cooked and add coffee and get all the goodies off the bottom. Return ham and grease to pan and serve with hot biscuits and scrambled eggs.

I've heard of red-eye gravy but didn't know it actually contained coffee. I'll try this next time I get a ham.mbeards2 in Omaha loved it
It seems funny to me that people would be wary to try red eye gravy. Most of us drink coffee with breakfast and don't think a thing about it.joe1155 in Munchen loved it
