Peanut Butter Blossom Cookies Recipe
We make these delicious cookies every Christmas holiday.

Ingredients
  • ½ cup shortening
  • ¾ cup peanut butter with nuts
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 Tbsp. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
  • 1 ½ cups flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • Granulated sugar in a bowl….for coating cookies
  • 9 oz. package of unwrapped Hershey Kisses

Directions
  1. Cream shortening and peanut butter together
  2. Add sugar and brown sugar next until well blended
  3. Add egg, milk, vanilla and beat well
  4. Add dry ingredients
  5. Shape into balls and roll into bowl of granulated sugar
  6. Place on a cookie sheet approximately an inch apart
  7. Bake at 375 degrees until slightly brown and cookie slightly cracks
  8. (Be careful not to overcook or burn)
  9. Remove from oven and place candy kiss in center of cookie and press down
  10. Let cookies set until chocolate gets hard

This recipe was a little lighter than what I am used to but it tastes great just the same. I placed hershey's dark chocolate, reese's pieces, and grape jelly in different batches of the cookies. All were great.


This is one my mom makes every Christmas, too. A couple years ago when I hosted a Christmas cookie bake at my home, I shared this recipe with several friends and it was a hit. Some of them have started making it every year, too. We prefer creamy peanut butter, though.
