Hidden Kisses Cookies
From krumkake 16 years agoIngredients
- 1 cup butter, room temperature shopping list
- ½ cup white sugar shopping list
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract shopping list
- 2 cups flour shopping list
- 6 ounce package chocolate “kiss” candies, unwrapped shopping list
- NOTE: You can cut off the tip of the candy kiss with a kitchen shears, and it makes it much easier to wrap the candy piece in the dough, without the tip poking through. shopping list
- powdered sugar for rolling cookies in shopping list
How to make it
- In a large bowl, cream together butter, sugar and extract.
- Add the flour and mix together well.
- Cover bowl and chill the dough slightly (I rarely find it necessary to do this).
- When dough is chilled, take about 1/2 tablespoon of dough and roll it into a ball, then flatten it in the palm of your hand.
- Place a candy kiss in the center of the dough, and then gently shape the dough around the kiss to completely cover the candy kiss.
- Place balls on lightly greased cookie sheet, leaving about 2” between cookies, as they will spread a bit as they bake.
- Bake at 375 degrees for about 10 to 12 minutes, until set but not brown.
- Cool cookies on the pan for a few minutes before removing (until cookies are firm enough to remove with a spatula without the cookies falling apart) and rolling them in powdered sugar while they are still warm.
- Place cookies on waxed paper to finish cooling.
- Store cooled cookies in a covered container with waxed paper between layers.
- Recipe makes about 48 cookies.
