Armenian Pilaf

- 1 1/2 cups kasha , (buckwheat groats OR bulghur wheat ) either one may be used shopping list
- 1 onion -- chopped shopping list
- 1 clove garlic -- minced shopping list
- 2 tablespoons olive oil shopping list
- 2 cups chicken broth( or vegetable based ) shopping list
- 1/4 cup slivered almonds shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups garbanzo beans -- cooked shopping list
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon cardamom shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon allspice shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper shopping list
- 1/2 cup raisins shopping list
- sour cream shopping list
How to make it
- Sauté onion & garlic in olive oil until soft.
- Add kasha & stir well
- Add all remaining ingredients except sour cream.
- Bring to a boil, reduce heat to simmer, cover, & cook until liquid is absorbed.
- Top each serving with a generous dollop of sour cream.
