Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cups kasha , (buckwheat groats OR bulghur wheat ) either one may be used
  • 1 onion -- chopped
  • 1 clove garlic -- minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cups chicken broth( or vegetable based )
  • 1/4 cup slivered almonds
  • 1 1/2 cups garbanzo beans -- cooked
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom
  • 1/2 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • sour cream

Directions
  1. Sauté onion & garlic in olive oil until soft.
  2. Add kasha & stir well
  3. Add all remaining ingredients except sour cream.
  4. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to simmer, cover, & cook until liquid is absorbed.
  5. Top each serving with a generous dollop of sour cream.
