Ingredients
  • 3 parts echinacea root, preferably fresh (root should be 3 years old before harvesting)
  • 2 parts blue elderberries, fresh or dried
  • 2 parts rose hips
  • 1 part fresh or frozen blackberries
  • 1 part fresh or frozen raspberries
  • 1 part grated fresh ginger root
  • 1 part sliced fresh organic orange
  • 4 parts brandy (I use Blackberry Brandy)

Directions
  1. Blend all but the brandy in a blender.
  2. Make a tincture by adding the brandy and allowing it to sit in a cool dry place for at least a week.
  3. Strain
  4. To use: Take 1 tablespoon 1-5 times per day as needed.

  6. Note: I use 1 cup per part.
  7. Note # 2: the amount comsumed is very small. however it is a good idea to boil fresh elderberries and cool before using in this recipe.

I thought it was slightly dangerous to consume elderberry without them being first subject to heat because of a toxin in the berry which needs heat to get rid of it?
