How to make it

  • Poach the green apple until tender. Peel, then slice into thin wedges. Saute with 1/4 cup water, nutmeg and cinnamon with a dash of corn starch.
  • When cool, place in middle of cupcake pan lined with 3-1/2 sheets of phyllo pastry. Spread cottage cheese or chocolate over apple mixture. Wrap the phyllo pastry over the apple mixture, then baste with olive oil. Ends will be standing up rather like a flower.
  • Drizzle 1 tablespoon of caramel sauce over pastry. Bake for 10 minutes in preheated oven set at 475 degrees.
