Ingredients
  • 2 sticks salt-free butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 Tbsp honey
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purposre whole grain flour
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ntmeg
  • 1/2 tsp each:
  • ground cloves
  • ground allspice
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 2 cups chopped figs
  • 2 cups raisins
  • 1 cup chopped almonds, blanched or unblanched
  • 1 cup water

Directions
  1. In lg mixing bowl beat butter until creamy smooth
  2. Gradually add sugar amd continue to beat until smooth.
  3. Add eggs one at a time.
  4. Fold in and beat in the honey.
  5. Set aside.
  6. In another bowl combine 3 1/4 cups flour with spices and baking powder, then sift together.
  7. oss almonds figs and raisins in the remaining 1/4 cup flour.
  8. Add flour mix to butter mix half at a time alternating with the water.
  9. Stir in nuts and fruits.
  10. Gently mix smooth.
  11. Divide batter into two prepared 9x5x3 pans.
  12. Bake in center of oven, preheated to 325F for 75 minutes.
  13. Remove and let cool for 10 minutes.
  14. Heavenly!

Ok - why is this called bible cake? Nice recipe but I was just wondering if there were scriptures to go along with these ingredients?
