chicken in almond sauce

- 4 ounces slivered almonds ,plus extra to garnish shopping list
- 2 tbsp veg. oil shopping list
- 1 tsp cumin seeds shopping list
- 3 cloves shopping list
- 3 green cardamom pods shopping list
- 1 tsp garlic pulp shopping list
- 1/2 tsp ground turmeric shopping list
- 2 bay leaves shopping list
- 1 large onion, chopped shopping list
- 12 ounces boneless chicken,cut into 1-1 1/2 inch cubes shopping list
- 1/4 cup light cream shopping list
- 1 tsp ground cardamom shopping list
- 1 tsp garam masala shopping list
- 1 tsp sugar shopping list
- salt shopping list
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro, to garnish shopping list
How to make it
- soak the almonds in warm wated for a couple of hours. drain and then process in a food processor or blender to a fine puree ; set aside.
- heat the oil in a pan and add cumin seeds,cloves,cardamom pods,garlic,grnd turmeric and bay leaves. when the spices begin to crackle , add onions and fry for 5-10 mins.
- add chkn and fry , stirring continuously.stir in almond puree and cook over low to medium heat for 15-20 mins.
- stri in the light cream, grnd cardamom and garam masala. add the sugar and salt to taste. cook for 3-5 mins longer.
- serve at once , garnished with a few almond slivers and chopped freash cilantro.
