Hushpupies are the staple bread for southern fish camps and seafood houses. These are good with or without onions.

The bbq joint round here uses green onion, i've never had them with just grated onion... wonder how it compares... looks like i'm going to do some deep frying.

My mom always added onion to her hush puppy recipe, she also added minced tomato flesh(no seeds); it added a great fleck of moistness and color to the hush puppy.

Gosh I love these things. I could make a meal out of puppies and coleslaw.

I see the deep fat fryer heating up for these - I'm with Dariana...I could make a meal of these wonderfully crunchy-on-the-outside-warm-and-and-soft-in-the-inside puppies...thanks pintobean!

I have never fixed them with buttermilk. I have used green onions and sweet onions and really can't tell the difference. Both are good. Will be trying these out tomorrow.
