Thanks, Shirley. I was diagnosed about 4 weeks ago...trying to control by diet right now, have to go back for a follow up. My Dad and Aunt are both diabetic, and my grandmother on Mom's side was, too. SOOO, I really need to learn how to eat healthier!! I know that starch turns to sugar, and how to watch that...but, I don't always think about it, I know. Thanks for starting this group. I will take all the suggestions, recipes I can! : )

I found out I was a diabetic in 1979 just a few weeks before I turned 18. I have found the best thing for me to do is usually just eat normally but in moderation. I am lucky as I have a terrible appetite and can get filled up with just a few bites. I love cooking for my family though so at least not having an appetite hasn't been a bother to them. LOL

Hi, my name is Tootzie. I've just joined your group. I'm a diabetic on insulin & really try to "be good" the diabetic way. I try to think of this as a way of life & not a disease.
I truly love sweets so try to modify recipes to meet my needs.
