Hey, KissThisChef - what kind of recipes are your favorites? :) Meat and potatoes? Any ethnic foods?

And Pointsevenout - looking at your recipes, it looks like you enjoy some of the finer things in life. *grin* What about you?

What recipe ingredients would you like to see used in the dishes posted to the group?

Today I was gathereing info on how to make the perfect hard-boiled egg and I believe I came across your recipe on another site. Could you post the instructions to make the perfect hard-boiled egg here, as a recipe, as opposed to in the body of a message? I am working on a recipe that needs boiled eggs. I rarely ever need boiled eggs, so my skill level is not so good. Mine always have the dark ring around the yolk and a pretty rubbery white.

Sorry, I took your bio at face value, that you were Julia Child's daughter. Couldn't tell that you were trying to be clever.

I'm definitely a meat, potatoes, rice, flour kind of guy. I prefer beef because it's easier to prepare but I like chicken as well. Not so keen on seafood (bad experience in childhood?) I also believe it's fine to raise chicken and beef for food, and that we are overfishing the ocean which cannot sustain human's need for fish. Farm raised salmon are not good to eat because of the food they feed them. Anywho, I will make almost everything from scratch, but I will use some things from the store, like a pizza dough ball. I've noticed there are too many things on the store shelves that use high fructose corn syrup, so I make my own stuff like barbeque sauce.

Well, I wasn't really trying to be clever... I was just making a list of the three most influencial people on my cooking. Mom comes first, then Julia Child, then Chef Gabe. *shrug* :)

Kissthischef, I posted a fun and delicious recipe this morning that you might like - the Sit Sandwich. I haven't tried making it with meats other than salami and turkey, but salami and beef - perhaps pastrami? - might be really good, too!

Having a tough time getting my thoughts around what I consider bachelor food for this group. I like cooking with spices and herbs. Not necessarily heat related spices and herbs. I enjoy the journey of preparing and making the food as long as it doesn't take multiple hours to accomplish the task. Cooking from scratch is most satisfying. It's the "Look at what I have built" ego trip that pleases me. I love filling the house with the fragrence of cooking food that gets people following their nose. Contrary to popular belief (stereotype), this bachelor does not run to the outdoor barbecue grill for every meal and I prefer using the oven over the microwave, even though it makes more monetary sense to use the microwave. Guess I can almost equate using the microwave to the task of opening up canned food for a heat and serve meal or reheating leftovers. Flavor, flavor, flavor is the result I favor.
I should only be cooking meal sizes for one or two but being naturally lazy, my meal size usually can serve 6 to 8. It keeps me from being constantly in the kitchen. There is a trade-off factor at work here. I find myself making meat dishes more than any other. The fewer pots and pans used is a definate plus. I love vegetables but I love meat more, so given the choice in time and opportunity, the meat gets the flame.

I know what you mean about seafood. I had a bad expierence with pickeled herring that took me to the power chuck mode. Rest of the seafood seems to treat me okay but I haven't been back to the herring yet.

Pointsevenout, I know what you mean about figuring out what sort of stuff might fit into this group. I've been looking toward easily prepared and flavorful things. The chicken korma recipe I just posted is one of those - absolutely delicious but not a lot of fuss. :)

Oh, and the crockpot version of the recipe... mmm, it's great, too! Really good for putting on before going to work. Impressive, too, for when you might have someone over to share it with. ;)

*chuckle* Well, I like just about anything that's pickled, including herring. :) I've even enjoyed "Norse Sushi Rolls" that have pickled herring in them - they're really quite good! Maybe it's my Norse heritage... ;)
