Chatter, or lack thereof..

Hmmm.. I'm not sure what exactly the purpose of the groups is yet. If it's a place to get recipes and comments from people with similar tastes then somehow it is not working. I realize this is a beta site and lots of things are tests of concepts. I check out the sites of each of you as often as I can. Occasionally I find comments I did not know were directed at me. Don't know exactly how to fix that, just raising the question.

I think what he is referring to is discussion outside of posting recipes. To a certain extent GR.C is more like a database of recipes versus an online culinary community. Mind you, this isn\'t necessarily a bad thing, as I am a member of a couple cooking forums, and I find that often there is much more general chatter (meaning not culinary related) then culinary chatter. This isn\'t necessarily a bad thing either, as those online communities perfer that style or direction. While I cannot speak on behalf of the administration here, based on my experience thus far, I think the desire is to remain far more focused onto culinary topics then to have various tangents of non-culinary chatter.

I guess the question (that should be raised in the Help group I guess) is what direction is GR.C going to go. As I see it now, there isn\'t a lot of chatter because until people have tried the various recipes posted, there really isn\'t anything to say about them.

Realize too that \"private messages\" can be sent amongst members. There may be a whole underworld of communication happening that no one knows is going on. Or, maybe not.

    Does this make sense?

I don\'t want this to descend into a discussion of motor oil or puppies (although I like puppies). What I really meant is that there are so many venues in this site that the group gives a spot to share food ideas and recipes amongst a group who supposedly have like interests and tastes. But there does not seem to be much content until just recently. And as you well know by now I am not above stirring the pot (opinion pot) ocassionally. :]

I just joined this group today. I just found it. I don't like odd foods either and it is nice to see there are others like me. I hope the group does take off, I noticed when I joined, others asked me to join their group. Perhaps you should try that...
