Proud veggie mama here. I checked my garden Sunday and have a teeny green tomato and numerous baby peppers starting. And I believe I see starts of the zucchini, too. I am so excited!

Congrats! Are they early girls or fat boys? Ha Ha, just kiddin. I just finished getting my whole garden planted yesterday. Got my tomato plants and peppers transplanted yesterday. I bought a yellow cherry tomato plant also. I have never tried them before. It will be a while before I am a veggie mama. :)

I am so excited to get my tomatoes & herbs in. It was so hard to wait until it was safe weather-wise! Besides the usual parsley (curly & flat), basil, oregano, I did sage, rosemary, thyme. My lettuce that I was able to start from seed is prolific! We did the upside down garden. If you have not seen it, it is a plastic structure. It's a plastic box that is on 4 legs - tomatoes hang down & herbs planted on top. Because we have a shady yard, Denny put the structure on a dolly that can be rolled around the yard as the sun moves. Got the garden structure at Sam's. Lettuce in a 4 ft wooden box we ordered thru Simply Planters - love it! Seems like we had to wait forever! Hi to all!

Sounds fun Maggi! You should post some pictures for us. I haven't seen one. I have seen commercials for the topsy-turvey planter, but that's about as close as I can come.

I made my first green salad with fresh lettuce, spinach, and radishes out of my garden last night. I am so excited. Everything else has sprouted now too. We have been getting tons of rain here for the past week. Crazy weather!

I'm telling you I never would have thought little tiny watermelons would be so cute! I gasped when I saw the first one and it made my kids jump! lol

I've got a ton of little cucumbers, too. About the only thing that has been big enough to pick is a couple of zucchini, and they aren't doing very good this year for some reason, and a couple of serrano peppers. I have picked a couple of green tomatoes and fried em up....so good.

I finally have little veggies too! I have a few teeny tiny pumpkins, some tiny tomatoes, and one pepper that somehow still grew on one of the plants the deer destroyed!

Hey all! I have been MIA! I have been so crazy busy this summer. The garden is doing great though. I have been having lettuce, spinach, radishes, green onions, turnips and carrots. Lots of pea pods, no real peas yet though. I have about 5 blooms on my zucchini so I should have some ready to eat in a few days. My potatoe plants are huge, the corn is doing well. I have blossoms on my beans and peppers. Even some little peppers and tomatoes growing. Blossoms on my pumpkins too! The only problems I have had thus far are that I only had one cucumber plant make it. Two sprouted, but the other one shriveled an stopped growing. And I have two tomatoe plants out of the Six that are all of a sudden looking like they want to die. The others are Mammoths. Thought I would get some miracle grow and try that. Any other suggestions? Hope you all are doing well!

I am just a bit, not totally, disappointed in my garden. The tomatoes in the ground are doing so-so. Lost the pumpkin plant, but now realize it is a cooler weather veggie? I have been experimenting in containers. The eggplant in the avatar was grown in one and was very yummy. Just need to do more containers at a time....I have tomatoes in containers also and since they were mark downs at the garden store they are slow to grow. But the mini tomatoes I did from seed are doing very well! Still trying to figure out the watermelons.....not very big so far. Oh, and the pepper plant in the container (from seed) is way outdoing the ones in the garden!

I see this as a learn as you go process. I would give just about anything for some advice from my grandma, she always had a big beautiful garden, but she has been gone for quite some time.....

Rainbow, I'm sure when you're time comes to plant your summer veggies, we will all be jealous as well. ;-)

I have yellow cherry tomatoes coming out my ears. The Romas and the Big Beefs are growing nicely, but not ripe yet. Zucchini are coming out my.......everywhere! Tons and Tons of pumpkins. I have started clipping of the blossoms. Should have corn any day now. I have canned about 14 quarts of beans so far. Things are coming along nicely. Made some cream peas and potatoes the other day. Yummy!
