Marinade question

  • mrtnzangel8 15 years ago
I want to make steak fajitas tonite and I am getting ready to marinade my skirt steak. I am all out of olive oil right now, is vegetable oil a decent substitute? Do you have any other ideas that could help me?

I've used Vegetable Oil before in my marinades and they worked fine.

Thank you jen. We were at the store last nite trying not to spend too much. Two weeks till the next pay day here. ugh!
Anyway, we needed veg. oil and olive oil and silly me said oh, I can live without olive oil if I need to, and now here I sit missing it like a lost pet. LOL

Haha! I know what you mean. I've done the same exact thing before. And Olive Oil is so expensive. :( I've had to do without too until the next pay period. Maybe with gas prices going down, food prices will follow suit.

Sure --- veggie oil will work just fine!
I don't know if you like beer, but marinating beef in beer makes it lovely and tender, too. You don't need the real beer; de-alcoholized beer works just as well :+D

You're very welcome re the beer suggestion.
    One more:

Have 2 bottles ready -- one for marinade, and another for yourself!! :+D
