Potato soup from my dad's neighbor...

  • mrtnzangel8 16 years ago
My dad helps his neighbor with mowing the lawn and she repays him with garden veggies, homemade jams and such. This time she gave him a big bowl of potato soup (after the first bowl he went and asked for more.:)~) He asked her for the recipe for me and this is it. I'm going to copy it as she wrote it. Then when I make it I'll post it on my page in my words. (Giving her full credit of course!)

3-5 lbs peeled and diced potattoes-Just depends on how much you want

    Melt 1/2 stick(1/4 cup)butter in pot.
Cook chopped onion in the butter. (5 min)
Add potatoes & water to cover.
    Boil until fork tender.
Drain 1/2 water, add 2 cups milk, small sour cream, cream of chicken soup, cream of celery soup, 1 lb chopped Velveeta, (Bacon or ham) I use 1 bag of chopped ham pieces.
    Serve with crusty bread.

I use to have a neighbor like that. I could aways ''pay'' him off with fudge or cookies.. He would even hide them from his family... His wife always knew he had a hidden stash when he wouldn't be hungry for dinner!!

We have one neighbor who is very unfriendly.. so we feel like we live on this mountain by ourselves.. lol...
I've made bread and cakes and gave them on special days... they would say thanks, then return the pans by placing it on my porch.. lol, just strange... lol

Howdy Doody, never watched him either... I must have been an abused child. . .Hmmmm.
I did watch Captain Kangaroo and Sky King, oh and Roy Rogers, I loved him.
Oh and I seen Sky King once, I went to his rodeo show...does anyone else remember him?

This has nothing to do with food, but I found this site about Sky King. It even has some sound clips from the old show. I wrote the guy who has the site and thanked him.

NEVER WATCHED MR ROGERS? That could explain the problem with the make up!!!LOL.. your picture is way funny.
I hated that show.. his voice, like he was in a trance or trying to put the kids in one!
Then came Tele Tubbies... now that was weird! And Barnie... hummmmm makes you wonder about kids watching TV.. and what is going on in the schools now... LOL

Oh I know what you mean. I didn't want my kids acting like any of them. I would rather have them act like Homer than a Tele Tubby.

Oh I smell several groups in the making. I have had all kinds of suggestions. A non-sense group to just tell jokes, a makeup group, so Mimi can give makeup tips. I just don't know what to do...
Then I seen the bachelor group and thought of joining, who knows who we could meet there....Hmmmmmmmm. :o)
