Made for the Cookie Swap 2016

I was really worried about these cookies. No eggs and no salt, or so I thought lol. The directions have salt, but not the ingredient list. So when I noticed that it was supposed to be in the recipe, I added 1/2 tsp. to the dry ingredients. I did not have the hazelnut extract so I just left it out. I did push a few M&M's in the top of the cookie dough mounds after placing them on the cookie sheet for looks :) Didn't miss the eggs at all, loved these cookies, very nice chewy texture, they spread nicely and tasted great!

Could you taste the Nutella? We love that stuff! The green and red M&Ms sure make the cookies look Christmasy and I bet the kids loved 'em!

Thank you! Honestly Bakerme (and don't laugh haha) I have never had Nutella before! Michael's Dad gave him a jar of it a few months ago and it's been sitting in our pantry ever since. I've heard it's addicting stuff, so I stayed away from it to help from forming a bad habit :) When I went to search M&M cookies, this one popped up and I thought it was the perfect opportunity to use some up! The cookies were very chocolaty so I guess the mixture of cocoa and the Nutella were the perfect mix!

Awesome photo, Mommyluvs2cook! I've never had Nutella either. For some reason it just doesn't appeal to me. I love chocolate, but not all things chocolate if that makes any sense. The cookies look great and I will bet the kids loved them.

I'm on the 'don't care about Nutella' band wagon too but my son used to LOVE it. He did a school trip to Italy one year and they had Nutella crepes there. He's never stopped talking about them. :) We have an Italian Deli down town that carries every Nutella size imaginable from teeny weeny stocking stuffer ones to 6.6 lb. jars. Too funny!

Those look great Michelle! I love the red and green M&M's for Christmas :)

Stir a spoonful of Nutella in a Hot Chocolate, or put it on pancakes/crepes---that's the only way I like it. I rarely buy it but I do have some on hand just for the holidays. It has more sugar, calories and fat than a premade tub of chocolate frosting! But at least it has a tiny bit of protein, lol ;)

Oh Janet, they have this crepe place at the BC Ferry terminal and we would always stop there when catching the ferry. The Nutella crepes with strawberries are my favorite, or rolled up with a banana, yum! In Belgium the street vendors sell waffles with Nutella and fruit too. :)

Mommyluvs and DIZ, we tried it for the first time a few years ago at the urging of a friend who is addicted to it. It's OK, but not a favorite. I've used it as a filling in sandwich cookies, but ended up throwing the rest of the jar away because we didn't eat it up before it expired. I'm not sure I'd be able to tell if it was in something like your cookies, Mommyluvs, that's why I asked.

Wow, so it looks like most everyone here is not as crazy about Nutella as I thought they would be! I have a little bit left in my jar, but probably not enough to bake anything else with. I may make crepes one morning and try something like Shona was describing, with strawberries!

Our friend says he puts it on toast and eats 4-5 pieces at a time! I think I'd throw up :p

I've actually seen a Nutella commercial where the kids didn't want to eat breakfast so the Mom rubs some on toast and the kids instantly are happy and eating away. I'm scared to try that with my kids lol, otherwise they would want it everyday for breakfast!

Beautiful Cookies! The only time I had Nutella was because it was an ingredient in a brioche bread recipe and let me tell you ... OMG fabulous! well at least the bread was that was made with it. I don't buy it because it is something I don't want to start liking and eating. LOL!!
