    Black Bottom Banana Bars
Recipe made for IMI2's February 2019 "Chocolate or Asian" challenge. Recipe made for the chocolate category.

My review: "OMG!! Where has this recipe been all my life. It is fabulous. Somehow different than banana bread. Texture is lighter, more delicate. I used half the sugar (I usually always reduce the sugar called for in a recipe) and thought it was perfect … not too sweet, but sweet enough. I added some chocolate chips to the bottom part and choose not to swirl it, after all it is "black bottom" bars."

Being I'm the only one who will be eating this I made half the recipe and baked it in a loaf pan. I should have made the entire recipe and baked it in the loaf pan for a thicker slice of a bar but then again maybe it would not have baked well.
This recipe is similar to other Black Bottom Banana Bars but uses half the butter which I liked. Maybe using half the butter is what made it lighter in texture. Swirling would have made it prettier but I don't need pretty to enjoy delicious. LOL! They taste better than they look.

It looks delicious Linda! What a neat recipe, it sounds so yummy!
The extra butter would have made them more cookie and brownie like; this way it's more like banana bread. And the baking powder probably helped make it more fluffy and cake like too. :)

Fantastic photo, LindaLMT! It really showcases the beautiful texture. Great idea to cut in half and use a loaf pan. I'm going to remember that.

Thank you everyone. Hmmmm, maybe I will have to try the recipes using more butter Shona. Loaf pans work well for halved recipes DIZ. Kid and adult friendly Michelle.
