A bit of a tit for tat if you saw my other post. I LOVE teriyaki anything. My hubby does not like teriyaki at all. I had a family pack of chicken thighs so I split the package in half and made a dish he would like. I made teriyaki chicken for myself. The one problem I always have with baked teriyaki chicken is that it’s not very appealing to the eye. This is the first recipe I’ve seen where you dip the chicken in teriyaki sauce and brown it in a skillet before baking. I had a tub of homemade teriyaki sauce in the refrigerated so I cheated and used it. I used butter instead of vegetable oil and It worked out very well. The recipe did not say whether or not to cover the pan. I’m assuming you are not supposed to. However, I envisioned this making a mess in the oven or setting off smoke alarms. I covered it with foil. It was awesome! I’ll be making baked teriyaki chicken this way from now on.

This looks awesome DIZ. I bookmarked the recipe to try. Is your home made teriyaki sauce similar to the one in the recipe? Now I'm craving this. :)

Thank you, Chuckieb! Here's my recipe for Easy Homemade Teriyaki Sauce. The ratios are a little different and I add vinegar to mine. I'm sure any teriyaki sauce would work.

Great picture!! The Browning probably helped the dish from being so watery since it was baked, which usually does make it look unappealing. I'm craving Chinese food for sure now too :-D

I love the dark mahogany colour you got on the chicken, beautiful!
I was eyeing this recipe up recently but decided on another similar recipe. I only had chicken legs and didn't want to sear them first, lol...;) Though I do love the idea of baking it all together with the sauce rather than basting and turning! :)

A wonderful photo DIZ! It really captures the flavor. I wonder if it would be good grilled too? I like the looks of the sauce a lot!
