    Baking Powder Biscuits
I like making old recipes so I wanted to try this one. I made it exactly as written, even using the knife as instructed. There was no mention of kneading so I just dumped it all on a floured surface and patted it out as instructed. I used a smaller cutter because of the yield size on the recipe. I did brush off the excess flour and flipped them over onto the baking sheet. When they came out of the oven, the outside was kinda crispy but the inside was nice and fluffy. I stored the leftovers in a zip-lock bag and the outside was soft by the next day.

Nice fluffy insides, Frankie, and I bet they tasted as good as they look! I've never made anything with lard and am always impressed when someone else does.

I bought some lard to make some authentic (I guess) Mexican refried beans. It seems just like shortening to me, with a different taste. I see where a lot of people won't eat it. Maybe I don't know the difference though.

Those turned out great! I've cooked with lard many times. From what I've heard lard is better for you than shortening, so just sayin'! Just what I heard, but I do know lard makes baked goods delish :) :)
