CROCK POT PEPSI ROAST

  • NadineM 7 years ago
Good morning; It has been a while for me to be able to post here.

Last night we had Crock Pot Pepsi Roast which is really fantastic in flavour and is quick to pull together on a busy morning. The only tweak I will do next time is add mushrooms and onions at the start.

The only small issue I have is that it does not mention how to serve the roast once it is cooked. Do you slice and serve or do you shred. Since I was serving with noodles I shredded but next time I will slice the roast.

When I told my DH about the recipe he thought that it was strange having sugar and soup mixed together but he really did enjoy the meal. He said that he was pleasantly surprised that the pop did not over power the flavour or add sweetens to the meal.

Nadine, I looked at the recipe - it does sound good, and maybe a different flavor for a bit of a change from the "same old, same old". Thanks for sharing - I think I might try it like that one day next week.

I've seen recipes that use cola in a crockpot but I haven't tried one. I have used root beer and 7-Up in crockpot recipes with good results. I like the short list of ingredients!
Glad to see you here, Nadine! :)

Nice to "see" you again, Nadine. I've never used pop in cooking, but have a
7-Up Pound Cake recipe in my to try file that I am anxious to make some time.

One of these days I will get brave enough to this. I suppose you can serve it any way you want, sliced or shredded. Would the broth make a good gravy for mashed potatoes or is it sweet?

Wonder if chicken would work. I have a dozen legs thawing. Was going to make some teriyaki chicken.

Sorry busy and did not get back on.

Oh Karen it was a great change for sure. Pop added a nice twist.

Frankieanne I have actually tried several of the pop roasts and so far they have all been good. Got to do again to do proper reviews as I am way behind in that one.

Bakerme it is a nice change doing a pulled pork or what ever cooking in a pop then drain shred the meat back into the pot and add the BBQ sauce.

Yes DIZ3 it would be a great gravy for mashed potatoes it was not sweet at all.

Pointsevenout I think it would work great with chicken.

Made with a dozen chicken legs subbed for the roast. Made home made 'cream of' soup, both 'shroom and onion. Used cream soda instead of Pepsi. Threw in 8oz, full cap, baby 'bella 'shrooms for the last half hour. Plated with turmeric rice but I put too much chicken bouillon in the rice water. T's instead of t's. Oops! So the rice is a little salty. Will have to make some gravy out of the crock liquid a little later. My opinion is kind of sketchy on the flavor since the rice was a little salty. Will have to clean out my mouth well and try the dish again.
