Czechoslovakian Bar Cookies

Recipe by DIZ3: Czechoslovakian Bar Cookies/saved
Good flavor. Mostly sugar and butter. It's a little dense.
Used some homemade freezer strawberry jam.
Going to have to work on my technique of making the upper layer of the cookie. Jam squeezed out on the sides and in the corners.
I assume this recipe can be modified without trouble with other jams.
The cookie must be left in the 8x8 until it cools so it doesn't sag so much when xfring to the cutting surface.
I'm wondering if a little baking powder will help the denseness.
Used the egg whites to paint the top and sprinkled on some ground peanuts. It's what I had.
Did all the mixing in a food processor.

Those look delicious, pso. Seems like peanuts would be fine to me! Like peanut butter and jelly!

I have this saved to my recipe box already, but would have to omit the nuts because my husband doesn't like them in things. I love 'em!

Thank you for making my recipe, Pointsevenout. You made my day yesterday. Great pictures! Dense is a very good way to describe these cookies. Yes, you can use other jams. I'm partial to strawberry, buy my brother makes them with apricot jam. I have to credit him with the method for putting on the top. I can remember when I was little, trying to spread the dough across the jam. Very frustrating.
