    Dutch Apple Pie
My mom gave me a bunch of apples from their tree. I don't know what kind they are. Yellow with a tint of green on top. I took this to work and got two "very goods" and one "best I ever had." I thought it was really good. I don't like double crust pie that much as I always feel there is too much crust and not enough pie. :-) The only thing I didn't really care for was the bottom crust got pretty hard. I suppose the egg white is to make it so it doesn't get soaked but I think I'd try it without if I ever made this again. Or lower the cooking time. Or something. Rated it five stars for the rave reviews from others although I myself would probably give it four because of the crust.
I gave the leftovers to a co-worker who has his mom visiting from Germany so I'll probably get more feedback tomorrow.

This makes my mouth water just looking at it! Nothing beats home grown produce. Dutch Apple was the only way my mom made her apple pies. She also made her cherry pies this way.

Mine too. I feel that I should go get a fork. I make something similar but with far more sugar. Great picture. Bookmarked.

    Thank you, everyone!
I bought it, Michelle. I've never made a graham cracker crust from scratch and its really just so cheap to buy one. I probably never will make one.

Frankie, I *have* made my own graham cracker crust, once, but must have done something wrong because it didn't hold together at all. Now, if I need a graham cracker crust, I buy the Keebler Extra Serving size ready-crust. It's the same size as a 9-inch pie plate, so works well for whatever I put in it. I think their regular size is 8 inches. You're right, they're not that expensive, and sometimes you can find a coupon that makes them even cheaper.

That's what I used here, Bakerme. Keebler Extra Serving size. There was a store brand, too, that was $1 cheaper but I opted for the Keebler as I was making it for my co-workers. I guess that means I like them. :-P
