Fresh Basil & Corn Cornbread

    Smells like it's going to be good. Has a nicely browned crust. Waiting on Captain Cornbread (aka mother) to have a slice and pronounce the verdict. She's napping now and maybe the cornbread will be spared until it cools off, which is not normally the case. She has a hate-on for greens in her food.
    Thought I'd get the pic and post going in the mean time.

    Captain Cornbread made a midnight run to the fridge and found the cornbread. It tastes good for her and she mixed up a piece in a bowl of milk. But did comment about the greens. Didn't have any trouble woofing down that snack.
    I snitched a corner pinch to taste it. Don't see any reason she shouldn't be pleased.

    I used creamed corn. Looks like the author did too.

    I always put creamed corn in cornbread. Husband complains if I don't! I need to make this one soon, sounds SO good!!
