It was good! I hadn't had venison in quite a while. Kept seeing Bambi eyes while I was eating it though so I doubt I'll be eating it again any time soon. :-D

Yup...perfectly cooked steak.... gorgeous! I've also bookmarked this. Deer season is just around the corner, again... so need to clear out the steaks and chops that are left! This is on the list. :)

That is a great looking steak. Makes me want to grill some up. Great grill marks, too. Grilling pan??? Is that like an indoor electric grill? Thanks for trying it.

It is a cast iron skillet with little ridges in the bottom. Its surprising how well it works. I'll show you where I got mine.

I have a grill pan too, Frankieanne that I use quite often. It's a Circulon non-stick which makes clean up a whole lot easier, but the grill marks on your steak look nicer. :)

Thats a heavy looking skillet. Is it possible you ladies might like using these more to give attitude adjustments to your men. rather than cook. : ) I remember my mom raising one to my dad. She never hit him, but that was enough for me. I think Im safer if I stick with the lighter stuff and my BBQ :)

That's funny, ml2c. Made ya think you got two pans for the price of one! Yipppeeee! :)
I really love my grill pan. I was skeptical the first time I tried mine, but I really love the results I've gotten with it.
It doubles as a workout tool, Mr. P. :)

Believe me Mr. Piggy they are VERY heavy and the handle gets so screamin hot. But there is just something so comforting about cooking with the cast iron. I love the way it cooks up things and makes it feel more rustic ;)

I have an old Lodge that was used for camping that I have been trying to recondition. I had cooked something with it a few months ago. It turned out great, but I dont know if that had anything to do with the skillet. But when I went to put it in the sink, I set it in at an angle. Well it slid down and broke a plate and drinking glass, so I put it in a time-out. He'll come out to play eventually.......when the right recipe comes up :)

Don't put your cast iron in time out lol! Put yourself, for even thinking those things could with hold the weight! Bad Mrpiggy!!! ;)

Oh I am so sorry I stumbled back to this thread.... it breaks my heart to think of all the misunderstood and abused cast iron out there..

    you people are ANIMALS!!!! ;)

hehehe... cooking wouldn't be the same without it.... I use mine daily and none of them have ever broken a dish! ;)

My sister was lucky enough to receive our grandmother's cast iron skillet when she passed. That thing is so seasoned, absolutely nothing sticks to it. Can't beat a well seasoned cast iron skillet. I like to use mine for a pizza stone/pan. I get a great crispy crust!

Yum! It's grilling season, here, and I knew this was gonna be on the agenda, soon. Today was the day. Needed something easy to serve up and it was perfect. We love venison and eat a lot of it, and while this may "kill" the gamey taste, it doesn't ruin it, either, for those who LIKE to eat it. hehe

We grilled these up charred on the outside and beautifully medium rare on the inside.

I did sub Heinz Chili sauce for the ketchup I just don't have ketchup ... I don't usually have chili sauce, either, but there was some left over from a few recipes over football season, and it worked great, here. It's a lil spicier and not as sweet as ketchup. Perfect for our tastes. Oh, and, while I was adding the sauces, a few(dozen) dashes of rooster mighta found it's way in there .... maybe. Accidentally on purpose.

Thanks for a keeper, Mr. P ... these will be made, again!

    Photo on the page. :-)
