Homemade Microwave Popcorn!

I didn't know there was such a thing!

    http://www.grouprecipes.com/678/homemade-microwave-popcorn.html

I had a brown paper bag, not lunch size, but close. I couldn't bring myself to use the staples. I used masking tape.

Just like the store bought but without all the heavy flavorings and chemicals, I got fluffy white popcorn worthy of stringing on a Christmas tree and tasty too!

I feel the need to edit here.....when I say just like the store bought I mean the popping process. Was really cool to watch and do. Kids loved it.

I love popcorn!!! I always use the store bought, bag kind, that you put in the micro. I like this idea better because I can control the amount of butter. I'll have to try it when I get some kernels. I'm going to try it with the staples...I just hope my microwave doesn't blow up!

I sometimes make tea in the micro and the bag has a little staple on it. maybe a little metal is okay? Looks good though I bookmarked it. I just bought a huge box of the microwave kind though.

Just the two staples won't hurt the microwave. I've made this several times. Still tweaking the recipe to get my desired results.

I don't like that only half the kernels pop. IMHO it defeats the cost savings. Maybe I should try a different brand of popcorn. Think I read somewhere that the faster the outside of the kernel is dried the more moisture trapped inside the kernel, which makes for more pop and larger popcorn.

Does anyone have the inside info on how the different brands process their corn?

Yes, Points...I think I heard that also about the kernels and why some pop better than others. I'm not sure which brands would pop better, but I like the Orville Redenbacher brand.

IMO.....a few unpopped kernels is okay compared to all the crap they put in the store bought micro stuff. We will do this again and again I'm sure. :)

I have a popper that we use over a campfire but bought way too much raw corn so I thought I'd try this too. Homemade Microwave Popcorn
