Make It Yourself-granola

I was going through my pictures and saw this one that I made about a month and a half ago and had forgotten to review it! Okay Keni would yell at me right now, but I use instant oatmeal, yipes! No, actually, after researching online I was kinda thinking the oatmeal would just disintegrate, which is what some people said happened to theirs when trying to make granola with it. Well I went for it anyway and it actually turned out VERY well. It wasn't super crispy but had a nice almost chewy texture, but still hard texture, which I liked. I definitely am going to keep making this with instant oatmeal, especially since I have an economy sized box from Sams :) My add ins were dried blueberries and cranberries, and chopped walnuts. For the choices for some of the other ingredients I used orange zest, vanilla extract and cinnamon. Ate it for a week straight over low fat vanilla yogurt every morning and never got tired of it :)

Hmmmm. I may have to try this. I get so bored with breakfast. I work five days a week and get sick and tired of trying to zing up my breakfast! This looks like something new for me. I love your picture and that pretty bowl. :-)

This is perfect for you Frankie..you can make it on the weekend and refrigerate it in a ziplock bag or container and it last for quite some time. Like I said I ate it over yogurt but it's great on it's own and I can even imagine it in a cereal bowl with a splash of milk. I think you would really enjoy this :)

Oh, and if you ever visit Texas there is a pottery shop in New Braunfels (not sure if you have heard of that city) that I love to buy from called Buck Pottery. That's where the bowl came from. It was actually labeled as a salsa bowl, but I use it for tons of stuff. Their stuff is beautiful and they have known our family for years so we get a nice discount :) I have a nice little collection of their things now!
