    New England Baked Beans

I'm no expert on baked beans by any means but my tongue says there is a touch too much salt in this recipe. Think if I were to make it again, I would leave out the salt altogether.

New England Baked Beans, Boston Baked Beans. Is there that much of a difference? I'll have to make other varieties to school my palate.

Uh-oh! Looks like Points is back to eating beans! LOL
I don't like using salt pork. The recipe would probably taste a lot better with bacon instead. But that's just my personal opinion.

I agree jules, but I try to stay true to the recipe. I have made beans before using bacon as a sub and find it more pleasing to my palate. I'm trying to see if there are any qualities I am missing by not using the salt pork.

But I'm now the owner, proud or not, of a little over a pound of salt pork with meat pieces. So the next few recipes.........................

Ha-ha-ha!!! You make me laugh! Well, you can rinse it a little before cooking the next recipe, definitely skip any extra salt and maybe reduce the amount of salt pork? Also, maybe add a little extra sweetness?
You know, in Russia they just slice that stuff and put in on a pice of black bread, then eat it like a sandwich. It's the most favourite snack out there!
