New Mod Frankie!

  • keni 12 years ago
Can I now pose a question, since you can help out with the issue since you are a mod, now? :-)

I was wondering if we can add our own recipes to the group if they've been made and reviewed, even if the person who made/reviewed it wasn't an IMI member? I ask because I don't really use the reviews page, but I DO search our recipes here...or, I did, until the submitting of them was halted since they had to be approved. I like to make recipes of IMI members, and I like to pay attention to them, but sometimes there are some great or otherwise helpful reviews from GR members who aren't group members.

So, can we submit our own recipes for admittance to IMI even if the reviewer isn't an IMI member? Will those be accepted?

Also, should we start threads if we notice a recipe of ours was made but not by an IMI member?

Thank you for your consideration into this matter, boss lady! hehehe

Thanks for asking this, Keni, because I kind of wanted to bring this subject up and you did it for me. :)
When I first became moderator, I saw there were some recipes that had been submitted here to be added to the group. I looked at them, but they had not been made by anyone at GR. So, I denied them. Yep, I did.
Its my own opinion that only recipes that have been truly made should be added to the recipes in this group. I don't care if they have been made and reviewed by an IMI member. To me, that shouldn't be a criteria. And, frankly, I would be thrilled if anyone here would go through their recipes and submit the ones that they know have been made and rated by someone at GR (not just an IMI member) and I will be happy to add them to this group if you want them added. To me, that's another way for us to get away from the Reviews page (although I will be keeping that up) and also be able to search for more "made" recipes here as searching threads does not seem to be an option..
I also recall that when Lillian first started up this group, she asked that people let her know what recipes they had made of other members of GR and she would put them in the Reviews bookmarks. So, yes I am all for anyone telling me when they see a recipe that has been made by someone and not put here.
I also have found, now that I am caught up, that having that Reviews avatar in the "bookmarked by" section of a recipe is very helpful. It shows me that it has been noticed and "logged" - so to speak. :) So, if any of you know of any recipes of yours or any other member at GR who has been made but doesn't have that little Reviews avatar on it, let me know and I will add it to the Reviews bookmarks.
And - if any of you don't know how to ask that one of your reviewed recipes be put here in IMI in the Recipes tab - there is a drop down menu on the lower right of YOUR recipe where you can add to groups that you are a member of. Pick the I Made It group and I'll be happy to accept it and put it here - if its been made by someone at GR, that is.
Does that all make sense to everyone?
Did I answer your questions, Keni?

Oh, by the way, that little Reviews avatar may not show up if your recipe has been bookmarked by "19 others around the world." It may have disappeared off your recipe. But, you can ask me and I'll let you know or you can search for it in the Bookmarks on the Reviews page.

perfectly, Frankie .... thank you! I do understand that if the submitter of the recipe isn't an IMI member, the recipe can't(currently) be added to the group, but it can be added to the "reviews" page ....

and, I totally agree that the point of the group was meant to be reviewed recipes, not just members' recipes, so your denying them is just right for following the purpose of the group in the first place. :-)

Now...what about threads? Threads or no threads if we've had a recipe tried, reviewed and rated? Or, should be forgo the threads and just ask for them to be added to the group?

Right, Keni, only a member of IMI can ask that a recipe of theirs be added to this group. That's another reason why any of us here who wants their reviewed recipes added to IMI will have to go through all of their OWN recipes and ask they be added here.
So, get cracking, all you IMI,ers. I expect to see a whole multitude of reviewed recipes here for me to accept very soon! :) <hehe>
You can start a thread here, if you want and also ask they be added to the group, (which you will have to do anyway so they do get added). You can also PM me if you want - as FrankieAnne - Reviews mail notifications are off for now. But, starting a thread with a list and/or links is fine with me. And maybe others will want to look as well.
But you will have to request from your recipe that they be added here. I can't add a recipe here as moderator without the owner requesting it be added. I'm pretty sure you all know that, but just FYI.

I talked to Lillian awhile back about submitting to this group recipes of our own that another member made and commented on but didn't post to this group themselves for one reason or another. She was all for it but I never followed through for some reason. Frankieanne, thanks so very much for wanting to take on the responsibility of keeping this group going. I congratulate you and wish you all the best.

I think adding a thread is probably the only way some people will see recipes that have been reviewed. That's what I look for, and those comments are what makes me decide yes or no. If I'm searching, I usually search the site as a whole, instead of individual groups - since the new site revamp. I guess I feel like people aren't still adding to the "chicken' groups, etc, because so many newbies probably never even see those groups. And, there are so many good recipes that aren't in any group...I feel like it saves time for me to search the site as a whole. But I do come here to see what others are making, and see if something catches my eye. We could link our recipe in the thread, whether it has been added to the group yet or not. And just copy and paste the reviewers comment in the thread.

Thanks for all your work, FrankieAnne! LOL when I saw the thread title, I thought we had a new "mod" Frankie! lol

Ha. Thanks, sparow. Mod Frankie will have to change her avatar, I think! :-D
I'm all for anyone starting any threads here. The more links the merrier! I really would like this group to be active. Maybe it will bring in more members and more cooking of recipes posted to this site. And I love seeing what everyone is cooking up.
I was even thinking of doing some other kinds of threads - maybe something like "which recipe have you made more than once" or "which recipe of yours has the most photos posted by other members" or "which recipe have you had bookmarked the longest and not made yet." Something along those lines. I'm not certain if all of you are interested in something like that! I know many of you are pretty busy and some things like that may be hard for anyone who has 500 recipes posted! :) Input is welcome and you are all more than welcome to start those kinds of threads on your own, of course.
I'm looking forward to all of you adding your own/made by someone at GR recipes here! And, just for clarification, I'll be looking at each one. Only recipes actually made will be added to IMI. Ones with "Oh, I love this. Sound really good to me" and given five stars but not really made won't be added. Just soze ya know. :-D
    Thanks so much!

Thanks for all your adds to IMI, everyone. Just so you know, GR only shows me 10 recipes at a time for approval. Right now there are over 50 for me to approve! So you all are doing a great job. :D
Just wanted to let you know in case you didn't see yours in the group right away. I'll work on them.
Thanks for all the threads, too, sparow! I'll get to those as well.
