No-boil Mac And Cheese

Recipe by Hottiehere08: No Boil Mac And Cheese
Well flavored creamy cheesy casserole. Takes the boil step out of the recipe. That's nice.
Take care not to season the crumbs too much. It's easy to do.
Noodles sucked up all the liquid and were al-dente. We in this household like it past that point. Next time I'll double the bake time with the foil on and probably will have to add one or two more cups liquid.
Dish comes out exactly to spec except for our personal preferences.
    Sets up nicely plated.

I was wondering how that would cook up without boiling the noodles first! I'm glad you made it and reported in. Looks like a nice bread crumb topping!

That looks great! Glad you gave it a try and let us know about it needing more liquid. My family has been asking for mac and cheese for a couple weeks so this one's on the list!

It's back in the oven with 2 more cups liquid for 30 more minutes.
Spaded it up, added the liquid: 50:50 milk/water. Covered with foil.
EDIT: 45 minutes later the noodles are better, read good enough to eat, but they could be softer.
I'm thinking the "boil in water" step is crucial for making a baked mac and cheese.

I'm thinking the butter and other ingredients coat the noodles and hinders the water from being absorbed into the noodles.
Next time I will boil the noodles first before casseroling up the recipe. And probably would have to adjust the amount of bechamel sauce accordingly. Otherwise the dish is quite tasty.

I have a lasagna recipe I make in which the noodles aren't boiled and it always turns out great - but those noodles aren't coated with butter and are laying kinda flat and not all mooshed together. So, you may have something there, pso.

Looks good! I would probably boil the noodles first in this recipe, I haven't had much luck with no boil noodles..except (like Frankieanne) when I make lasagna I use the regular noodles and don't cook them 1st..even in a crock pot lasagna recipe:) Always turns out just perfect!
