Red Grape Smoothie

Well this one didn't last long around here! My daughter and I both had two big glasses! I used raspberry yogurt (that's why it's pinker) and did need some ice because the grapes I used weren't very cold and didn't do the thickening job ;) I never would have thought to put grapes in my smoothie so thanks for sharing this one with us!

Yours is a pretty pink! I had never really thought about adding grapes, but I had some that needed to be used up, and it worked out better than I thought! Thanks for trying it... :)

That looks really good ML2C. There are a bunch of grapes growing where I work. I think they have seeds tho. I wonder if a blender would chop them up. The grapes are tiny but very sweet.

SWEET grapes, you say? Is someone craving SWEET? :O

It looks like (from my Google search) that eating grape seeds doesn't HURT you, in fact they have nutrients in them that are good for you. But I'd be a little concerned about how blending them in the smoothie would leave it texture-wise - kind of grainy? If you want to try using those grapes, why don't you just blend some with milk and then see if it is smooth enough to use instead of wasting the other ingredients and finding you don't like it? I did read one comment that said to be careful about eating dirt after eating grape seeds or you'll end up with a vine growing in your stomach. :)

Yes I did say SWEET. I should have realized someone was watching. Well as it turns out Im in luck. I will not have to drink round-up to kill vines growing inside me due to consuming seeds. A lady at work told me where to find some without seeds ( my mom used to tell us kids not to eat the seeds of apples because a tree would grow in side. We believed that for the longest time. Can you say gullible?) But my blender -while really old- will chop carrots and flax seeds to almost nothing so I might have been ok with seeds. Except for the grape vine growing in me, that is

Oh and I will have to use either raspberry or strawberry yogurt as I do not have vanilla. So mine will probably look a little like ml2c's. Just not as pretty

I made this for an after work snack/cocktai . I used 2 cups of teeny red grapes (frozen). And YES GK, they were seedless and very SWEET. I used raspberry yogurt. But I did use a 2 scoops of vanilla whey. Does that count? I like this better than the mixed fruit I usually use. Added a pic. Nowhere near as pretty as either of yours but hopefully just as good. Thanks for the heads up ml2c and the recipe GK

Little Mr. P sat on a tuffet
    Eating his curds and whey
Along came a spider and sat down beside him
    And frightened Mr. P away

I've never had whey. Is it powdered? I love vanilla - does it taste good? If if tasted good in the smoothie, then, yes, it counts. :)

    And a wicked pic too.

Very cute, GK : ) And I dont like spiders, so it fits. And the pic is in my favorite drinking glass : )

Oh and the whey I have is in powder form and taste good flavored. I dont know what it would taste like w/o flavoring

When we find a sale on grapes we will wash them up, let the dry and spread them on a kitchen towel that covers a baking sheet them freeze them. Then we just bag them up in the freezer. We do that with apple, grapes, watermelon, pineapple, and berries. That way you do not need to add ice to your smoothies. We picked up a Vitamix awhile back and it makes short work of the frozen fruit.

What are curds anyway? They dont sound good. As for the frozen grapes. It was hard not to eat them. I tasted them before putting them in the blender. I shouldnt have done that. Now I have to make room in the freezer for another container. Valuable real-estate in there. Ice cream will have to move out : (

Well, if it's any consolation to you, I'm sure grapes are better for you than ice cream. :P

Curds are the solid form that results in the cheese-making process. The liquid that is drained away is the whey. I guess it is dried somehow and then that's the powder that you use. Think of cottage cheese...
Check out this link: it says PIGS eat whey! :P

And Mark, I remember your previous posts about the Vitamix and how you said you've never eaten so much fruit in your life! :D

GK, what am I going to do with you : ) It is NO consolation WHATSOEVER. I think I just need a larger freezer.

So PIGS eat whey? Hmm, I guess its all starting to make sense.

With all this talk of raspberry yogurt, I had to get me some on my weekly grocery store visit today...but the only frozen fruit I have is a package of cherries. So I guess I'll be making a cherry-berry smoothie. It sounds good...hope it tastes good!

What, no whey for the piggies? "Cherry-Berry Cocktail" sounds like a good name. I never liked the name"smoothie" though. That sounds like it belongs with quiche
