Rye Biscuits

    Recipe by Linebb956: Rye Biscuits/saved
Good rye flavor. Didn't rise all that much but it could have been my fault. Had to make some homemade baking powder, which BTW is 2 parts Cream Of Tartar to 1 part baking soda. There's another item for the store list.
Full 18 minutes on the bake time. Flipped a couple of the biscuits over to show that they were browning although one couldn't tell from looking at the tops.
Made one with plum jam and another two with gravy.
Made a dozen biscuits with a 3" cutter.

I don't believe I have ever heard of rye biscuits before, although it makes perfect sense. Thanks for the lesson on the baking powder. I didn't know that although it sounds like maybe the real thing is better.

To keep the homemade baking powder from clumping, use some cornstarch if you are making a lot. Don't know the ratio. I just made enough to get by for this recipe.
Done been to the store and resupplied with the real thing.
