I may be cheating here because this recipe is not new to me, but I didn't see it in the IMI and it's one worth sharing. I know pepper steak is considered an Asian dish, but I originally discovered this recipe in a Taste of Home cookbook called Country Cooking and it recommends serving over egg noodles. Add some green beans and steamed carrots and you’ve got a hearty country style meal.

It's very adaptable. I often use whatever peppers I have on hand and even add fresh mushrooms if I have them. Great for the crockpot, but the long cook time really isn’t necessary. Just depends on the toughness of the meat. By the way, did I mention that I used venison?

    Review Comments:
"Awesome recipe and very adaptable. I used a mix of green and red peppers because that’s what I had on hand. I made this on the stove top so my cook time was greatly reduced by about 4hrs. I let it simmer in the sauce 1hr before adding the peppers and tomatoes, then cooked about another hour or so until the peppers were completely wilted. The meat was tender and falling apart. Served over wide egg noodles. Fantastic!"

Made this!!! It was so easy and delicious!! I had Girl Scout stuff going on this evening, so slow cooker time it was :) Really the only change I made was that I used one green bell pepper and one red. Oh, also used arrowroot starch for the cornstarch. Served them over zucchini noodles :) LOVED this recipe, and so did the family!

What a great photo, Mommyluvs2cook! I'm so glad you and your family liked this. I like your idea of serving them over zucchini noodles. Do you use any special gadgets for making the noodles? I made them once and cut them with a knife. Even though we really liked them, but I decided it wasn't worth the effort.

Thanks DIZ!! This is my spiralizer, I LOVE it!! http://www.amazon.com/Spiralizer-Vegetable-Shredder-Spaghetti-Vegetables/dp/B00KOWGZJE/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1454593772&sr=8-2&keywords=paderno
I wouldn't bother doing it by hand either! There is also this little gadget that works pretty good but a little more work than the one above. I had this before I got the Paderno.

Thank you! I'm going to add that to my "wish list." I always have tons of zucchini during the summer and need all of the help I can get when it comes to getting them used.

Awesome photo, DIZ3! I love my crockpot for meals like that. Mommyluvs2 cook, I've thought about getting a spiralizer to make zucchini noodles, but haven't broken down and gotten one. Mainly because I absolutely have no spare room in my cupboards to store it. Are the noodles that different from what I can make on the large holes of my box grater? I no longer eat white pasta and use Barilla whole grain linguine or elbow macaroni for any pasta dishes.

I have never used a grater to make zucchini noodles Bakerme so I couldn't compare. The best thing about the Paderno spiralizer is I can get a whole zucchini done in about 20 seconds. It's quick! If your worried about storing the second link I posted for the veggetti would be good for you, it takes a little longer but it's tiny :)
