i cut this recipe back a little and it worked good. I did only cook it about 3 and 1/2 hours in the crock because my low is high no matter what. It was perfect. I was able to find the tropical fruit blend you were talking about, after a thorough search and almost giving up ;) I served mine over a brown and wild rice mixture. So good and glad I can add another yummy recipe to my slow cooker recipes cause I use them A LOT!!!

Try dropping by some second hand stores, Goodwill, etc. They will have crock pots for bargain basement prices. We'll get your HI/LO setting working again.

I acually sold my old one in a garage sale which was passes down from mil. It was just too small but after getting my new one wished so bad I had kept it. I'm am gonna check out goodwill next time I'm over there.

This looks really good. It seems like I am always hungry when I come here. I want to try this. I do have a question.......again. What is and where would I find fish "sauce"? Is that the equivalent of chicken broth but from fish? Can I drain a can of tuna?????

Hey mr p - I know you use Oyster sauce - Fish Sauce is also a bottled condiment (used in Thai food) that you would find in the Asian section. It smells kind of "fishy." :P

And I 'm pretty sure that using the juice from a can of tuna won't work - unless maybe if the tuna is fermented...

:-) MP, you never fail to make me smile!!

Fish Sauce is an Asian sauce .... and, as unappetizing as it sounds, it's made from fermented fish. You don't use a ton of it, and I actually prefer Oyster Sauce which is thicker and maybe a lil sweeter..for lack of a better word ... but they are pretty different from each other. I happen to currently have both, but I don't buy fish sauce all that often.

You should be able to find it in your Asian section of most markets, or, if not, sub oyster sauce! :-)

Glad you liked this, luv.... it wasn't my favorite, as you know, but I could see it's appeal to others more than myself. I like to think I'm bein' a big girl when I try foods I don't think I like! hehehe
